Hunt Writeup: The Project
This year, the Arizona Desert Bighorn Sheep Society has teamed up with the Eastern Chapter of the Wild Sheep Foundation to help fund a collaring and research project for sheep located near the Roosevelt Lake area, an additional deployment in the southern portion of Unit 24 and locating and recollaring Ram 6-009 to help determine travel corridors across highway 60 near Gonzales Pass. This research is critical in determining where to locate a game overpass in the area to help reduce potential vehicle strikes on our sensitive bighorn sheep and other wildlife in the unit.
The Package
3-Day assisted (non-guided) archery hunt for Javelina in Arizona for 2 people. Get out of the cold, and come enjoy 3 days in the Sonoran Desert hunting collared peccary. If you have never hunted Javelina with a bow, you are missing out on one of the best spot and stalk hunts there is. This hunt is for 2 people, accommodations include trailer camping or wall tent. All meals, beverages and snacks are provided. Just show up with a bow and a quiver full of arrows. Dates are January of 2024. Hunters must provide transportation to Phoenix, personal gear , hunting license and javelina tag. Non-residents hunting license is $160.00 and tag is $115.00. Must be drawn for the tags, which is usually 100% draw odds. Applications for the draw are due by the 2nd Tuesday of October. Hunt may also be conducted with handgun, muzzleloader, or rifle.
Note this hunt is also conducted during quail season so bring along your shotgun for some fun with birds!
